NEW YORK FIREMAN FIRE TRUCK PHOTO FIREFIGHTER PICTUREAvailable is a very large (11X17) new print of a remarkable photograph from the early 1900s. Ten New York City firefighters are shown atop a self-powered high-pressure fire truck. The source can only establish a date of 1908 to 1916. We have been unable to positively identify the model or manufacturer, but an enlargement of the center of the front grill appears to have a logo that looks like the Mack truck logo of the era. We would love to hear from someone who knows for sure. Nonetheless, it records a period in which technology was taking over the profession of firefighting but the bravery of firefighters was still what really protected the lives and structures of cities and towns across the country.
