Heres a LINK to the artist's website where this sculpture sells for $350 Artist's Statement: The one place I remember well in the high winter of my childhood, is that one short burst of time when, giving fright to the wind, I launched myself out over the air of the school hill's well packed edge. Wooden and cold and cushioned by a woolen coat and gloves and fear, I thrust out the cannon fodder of myself, in a well-memorized arc which ended in a clustered cold metal clapping of shiny runner biting ice. That was one precious moment to remember even until now, where, decorated with fifty years of other things, it is still as bright as light as the frostbitten air of that day's fear and speed and wonder to be treasured beyond the finish line of my years and the many other winters since that frozen moment and its glorious, high risen arc of time. This sculpture would make a great conversation piece in any setting. Artist Bio:Dennis Smith has achieved international recognition as a figurative sculptor. He is most widely known for his sculptures of children, which illuminate moments in time where spontaneous discovery and childhood dreams are revealed. His works are on permanent public display throughout the United States and in many other countries including Denmark, England, France, Japan, Russia and Singapore. Lost Wax Casting Process The "Lost Wax" is the most precise metal casting technique in existence, ensuring accurate reproductions of the original sculpture and exquisite detail. All bronze pieces are cast from a wax model regardless of the original material the model was sculpted in usually in clay or wax. "Lost wax" casting method was founded thousands of years ago. Even though, modern methods and materials have improved the technique. It is still an extremely labor intensive and expensive process. Condition: This sculpture is in a very good condition and a great piece of art.
