Asian Silk Embroideries Flowers Birds Insects NOTE: Price will be reduced by $170.00 if you can arrange and pay for your own packing and shipping or local pickup Here are two large gorgeous framed silk embroideries featuring birds, flowers and insects. Both are executed with silk thread on silk fabric. They came from an estate and are being sold as a pair. The color palette is subdued and elegant with silvery greys, pale peach, steel blues, light browns, pale pinks and pearl white. The threads are lustrous and achieve an exquisite shading effect through gradations of colors blended together with long and short satin stitches and with delicate changes in the thread colors. The centers of the chrysanthemums are created with seed stitches (also known as French knots or the forbidden stitch.) Condition: Overall the condition of both embroideries is very good. Upon close inspection both pieces have a small area where the silk fabric is worn (see pic) and one has an area that might have been lightly stained from water but it is hard to see. These flaws are not noticeable and occurred before the embroideries were framed. These pieces were professionally framed carefully and tastefully. The painted wood frames are well constructed but have signs of wear on the paint in a few places (see pic). Each embroidery has a different color paper backing, one is brown and the other is black, I think the black one is original and it is ripped across the top. I believe the brown paper backing is newly added. The label on the bottom of the black backing reads Centreville Frame Shoppe, Centreville, DE Each framed piece is over 3 feet tall. Dimensions 39 1/2†X 21†frame 33†X 14†inside mat dimensions. (viewing area) The theme and style look Chinese but there are no identifying marks. ************************************** These items are vintage or antique and hand picked from estate sales and auctions.
